I live on the island and have not stayed at the Radisson, but it is a lovely setting with a great beach. and it has been getting very good reviews.
The hotel is quiet and a little isolated ( up over a winding hill) and you do need a car to do anythign.
leaving the resort, and once over the hill, you are right where you can take a ferry over to Pinel island which is a nice way to spend a day.
You also are 5 -10 minutes away from Orient Beach ,which is lined with beach bars/restaurants and is a beautiful beach.
In the other direction about 10 minutes away is the village of Grand Case, which is lined with wonderful restaurants.
I think the Radisson is a good choice.

I live on the French side of the island, just a few minutes drive from the Radisson, and though I agree with Barbara - to some extent - you should be warned that most of the shops/boutiques/restaurants in the small area around the very pretty marina attached to the hotel are (or were last week) mainly closed, and appear as if they will remain so, as it seems that the leases have not been renewed.
I have both friends and relatives who have stayed at the Radisson since it's much delayed opening, and their comments have not been totally positive - largely because of the seeming lack of staff training and the cost of so-so food in the restaurant - with little alternative available without driving or taking a taxi.
The spa/fitness center is also very expensive and, from my own personal observation, the staff - though very charming - are not at all knowledgeable.
I know quite well the person who wrote one of the reviews in the local press to which Barbara is possibly referring, and it was admitted to me that it was more of an 'advertorial' than an unbiased review.
A car, if you stay there, is ABSOLUTELY ESSENTIAL.
Please don't be put off by the above, the setting is beautiful, but the hotel does not seem to have 'bedded in' as quickly as one might have hoped.

actually I am not referring to what was in the local press. I didn't even see that.
I am referring to what was on other travel boards, like trip advisor.

Hi Barbara.
I am not referring to 'so-so' reviews. The one review to which I referred was 'glowing', but as - in essence - an 'advertorial', it would be wouldn't it ?!
I am basing my comments on those made to me by both friends and by my son and family, who have stayed in the hotel.
Also, in the case of my friends, their room was nothing special apart from a fancy bed, and it had a nondescript view, which was not reflected in the room rate ! Personally I would have asked to be moved to the other wing of the hotel - even if it would have cost me even more.
I think that, if anyone is booking there, it is highly advisible to establish the location / view of the room before confirming.
