St Martin in May

Well I just booked my trip to St. Martin in May and it will be my first time in the Caribbean. I am just wondering what the weather will be like and if there is anything I should know before I go there as well as when I am there. Things like what to do, where to eat, what to look out for and the such would be much appreciated. I am staying at Orient Bay and have a rental car.

Go to www.wunderground.com - using the Travel & Activities dropdown menu select Trip planner. Enter airport code for St. Martin (SXM) and your planned dates of travel. You'll be directed to all sorts of weather data on SXM for that period. Review the material and you'll know more about the weather than most locals.

A quick search of the archives on this forum (use the search feature) will bring up lots of info about what to do and see on SXM. Also if you do a google search for "Things to do on St. Martin" you'll find tons of useful information. Finally, check out the SXM forum at Traveltalkonline - lots of great info there.

the weather should be nice in May. it's pre hurricane season and it's before the hot months of July and August.

The weather should be great! I used to go in May all the time - you may have an afternoon shower - but it will pass. I'd go to Grand Case to eat....Pinel Island - which both are somewhat close to where you'll be staying...On Orient - I personally like Kakao's - there are a slew of places to frequent. Make sure to do some duty free shopping in Phillipsburg! Marigot is fun....I'd rent a car and just go check it all out.....there are tons of beaches - restaurants - and shopping....consider a day trip to Anguilla, St. Barths - or Saba as well. Have a great trip!
