I have to disagree with Tim. Sapphire Beach is in the best location on the Dutch side near the French border. This allows access to both Phillipsburg on the Dutch side, Marigot and Grand Case on the French. Much closer to shopping, restaurants etc. We own a condo within walking distance of Sapphire and know the activities manager and have friends who own time share here. I will tell you that the resort is still building, however the rooms are lovely and have full kitchens. Great to be able to make your own coffee for breakfast and perhaps lunch.

If you do go to Sapphire try the restaurant withing walking distance "Le Bistro Gourmand" owner is Ursula, food is fantastic and prices are not bad. They have a little market attached and you can get take out at lunch (sandwiches, salads) or you can eat lunch on the patio.

We stayed at Grand Case Beach Club on the French side and had a wonderful time....Many things to do in St. Maartin...Although we even rented a car for a few days, public transportation was excellent. Took a side ferry boat trip to Anquilla and spent the day. Wonderful...never saw such white sand in my life.

Have fun and enjoy!
