Shabbychic - We love Caneel and go every year but NEVER get the meal plan. You might want to look into booking through Virtuoso because part of their package is the cold continental breakfast at the restaurant (versus the free one that's outside). It's excellent and there's a low cost ($5 or $6) if you want to "upgrade" to the hot breakfast. We usually eat at the beach bar (and get a hit of CNN) but will also sometimes pick things up at the deli at mongoose junction and keep leftovers in the fridge for another day. Just factor the cost of the jitney service into your planning ($5 or $6 each way/person)....
