St John or St thomas
I dont know if we(2 couples) should stay on the island of St Thomas or on St John. We will be there in Sept and we will have a Jeep. I just dont want to be paying the 25 bucks everyday to go to St Thomas if I find St John boring. From what I have seen about the villas they are cheaper on St Thomas. Is there enough to do on St John that I will not have to go to St THomas everyday for activities?

First, if you stay on St. John, it is not $25 to go to St. Thomas. It is $7 one way pp to Charlotte Amalie so for two, it would be $28. Or you can go to Red Hook for $3 pp one way.
Generally speaking St. Thomas accomodatins are less expensive than St. John. And, of course, St. Thomas has more variety of hotels/resorts while both have some fantastic villas! Amazing how that price climbs with the ferry ride. Not sure what you are looking for when it comes to "everyday" activities. St. Thomas does have more attractions (Coral World, Paradise Point, Drake's Seat, etc) than does St. John and the shopping. There is just more choices of everything on the bigger island. And there are some wonderful beaches on STT too - but just not as many are known as the ones on St. John which has the advantage of the Nat'l Park.
If you plan on beaching it and beaching it, snorkling, a dive trip or two, a day sail or even exploring the BVI's, hiking some of the Nat'l Park trails, attending some "lectures" by the Park Service, I can't imagine anyone being "bored" on St. John if you love the beach and hoppping from one beach to another or even, as I do, manage to stay plopped on one beach with a wonderful book or two or three and snorkling right from the beach til your heart's content! You will find bars and some nitelife into the wee hours of the morning on St. Thomas that you won't find on St. John. Enuf to do? For most, the answer is a resounding YES. For others, they may find it otherwise.

My vote is for St. John-We have been to many islands including all of the Virgin Islands, and St. John 3x's. It is by far one of the most beautiful with the best beaches (better than Hawaii!) There are many restaurants which is where the "nightlife" is. The food and most of the accomocations are is quite good (including camping at Maho & Cinnamon).

St. Thomas is an overrated, overcrowded tourist trap. It is a much larger island and if you can make it to the north side it isn't quite so crowded. Unless you just want to shop, it's a nice day trip. Also, do a day trip to Tortola or Virgin Gorda's Baths.
