st. croix passport info please?

My wife of 2 years has yet to change the name on her passport. We will be traveling to St. Croix in a couple weeks and I just wanted to confirm that all she needs is a valid drivers license and birth certificate. I have looked all over the internet and everything including the passport websites tell me she doesn't need one? Thanks for any help. (also it is a direct flight from atlanta to st.croix via delta)

That's correct. Her birth certificate needs to be certified if it's a copy though.

You don't have to have a passport to travel to STX but I would recommend it over a birth certificate. We used our passports just last week and seemed to get through security fairly quick.

Oh and we took that "direct" flight from Atlanta but since our connecting was late into ATL due to Delta's incompetence to begin our trip (the flight attendants didn't show up in our departing city) we missed it and they rerouted us through San Juan, which totally sucked. So don't count on it being a direct with Delta.

pword, read your informative posts earlier today and thanks for all the info. sorry to hear about your rental car, i'm starting to question whether or not i chose the right island? starting to think i'm heading to somalia or something? anyway my delta flight is suppose to be direct from atl and since i live here i hopefully won't encounter any problems. san juan truly does suck, got stuck there last year for an extra 4 hours on route to anguilla. your other post said no need for a jeep so i was wondering what you would recommend? if i'm going to leave the thing unlocked and open to the world like everyone suggests i figure i may as well get an open top jeep or something. thanks again.

frankenfish, you chose a great island. STX is absolutely beautiful and I think less crowded than STT or STJ, although I haven't been to either of those that's just what I'm told. Of course no cruise ships go to STX. There are some great local people on STX who go out of their way to make your trip wonderful.

However there is crime and lots of seedy people around but the main problem is the cops are doing nothing about it and really are compliant in the problem. I believe this is getting worse in all the USVI not just STX, at least from what I've been reading and hearing.

You just need to be careful and not leave anything in your car. An open air jeep would be a great way to see the island but keep the top up at night. It rained nearly every night we were there and twice during the day but usually only brief showers. We didn't see that many jeeps though and you may have a hard time finding one to rent.

Have a great trip. STX is a beautiful island with lots to do or not do. Enjoy!!
