I was there in February for one week. The beaches are very nice and the service is exceptional. Food is discusting and pretty much the same every day. Remember that Cuba's idea of a four star resort is completely different from Canada's standard of four stars. No marine life at all, meaning no snorkeling. Poverty is apparant...cigars always being sold on the beaches (don't buy them as most are fake. Havanah is the best place to get cigars. Excellent value). Tipping is appreciated, but bring American things, Eg. Nike hats, t-shirts with logos, candy bars, toothbrushes, pens, soaps, etc. You can barter a lot with these items. Good luck.

Message: You might want to reconsider visiting Cuba. It's not safe. A 26 year old Dane was shot to death by Cuban troops for wandering into a restricted area which was not clearly marked. Here's what his parents had to say: A FINAL NOTE FROM THE FAMILY OF JOACHIM OGNER LOVSCHALL ~Terrorism occurs all over the world and is carried out by terrorists. In Cuba, inhumane and inexcusable acts of lawlessness and injustice are carried out, not by terrorists, but by the Cuban government. Jyllands-Posten - Article in original Danish------------->

There has been more tourists killed in Miami than Cuba, that is the reason we GO TO Cuba so often. For a safe and secure holiday, with lovely people who like polite and understanding tourists, try Marea Del Portillo or Farillon Del Caribe.Tell them I sent you. Tom.

Robert: you have to learn to distinguish between the cuban people and Castro, you cannot judge a country by its president. A person is asking for an advice on spending a holiday time, and you are talking about politics (?). Besides, if you NEVER been to Cuba, you may not want to give some good advice on the subject.
