Soft, sandy beach?
Hello, We were surprised to find out not all Carribbean islands have stereo-typical powdery, soft sand beaches!! Saba, which sounded absolutely intriguing to us, is off our list due to lack of beaches (we are extreme beach bums). After researching on-line, we also see that many St John USVI beaches are quite rocky/pebbley.
Where would you suggest we find that quintessential beach experience?? Ta, Ti and Jack

Hi:There are many beautiful beaches. Since you mention Saba I figure you are looking for a lush hilly island with beaches. Grenada is lush and has Grand Anse Beach which is very beautiful. St Martins has beautiful beaches Baie Rouge and Cupocouy are lovely. St. thomas has Magen's Bay which is the typical Caribbean beach so is Trunks Bay in ST. John. In Grand Cayman Seven Mile beach is a very powdery soft beach. However if you can do without the lushness and the hills the most beautiful stereo-typical powdery, soft sand beaches are in Aruba. manchebo, Eagle and the very touristy but gorgeous Palm Beach. Aruba is every beach bums dream. Have a great vacation.Karen

Seven Mile Beach, Grand Cayman.
Miles of soft, sugar white sand, you can walk in & out of the water for hours. Nothing but nicely kept properties or upscale condo's on the north end, & as you go south toward the town more regular hotels exist & the crowds exist. The northern end is only about 5-7 minutes from town but much quieter & more peaceful. Plus the beach faces due west for the most incredible sunsets anywhere. Island is British & very safe; locals do not harrass anyone & are very friendly. Finally, probably the best diving anywhere in the Caribbean--unbeleivable coral, critters & crystal water with 200' plus vis. Can't beat it, but you pay for what you get--prices are not cheap but it is worth every cent, so well spent.

If you are looking for the best beach experience try Bora Bora. It is a real paradise with the longest white beaches. It is not Caribbean but once you go there you will know what the beauty of the beaches is all about. Try and you will never forget.
