Snorkeling in Barbados

Any suggestions on best snorkeling in Barbados? We prefer beach snorkeling rather than taking a catamaran-my hubby gets seasick.
Would appreciate restaurant suggestion too.
We are staying in St Lawrence Gap, do we need a car to appreciate the island? All help is greatly appreciated.

From shore the west coast is the best spot. we snorkeled at folkstone marine park. There's a parking lot and lockers that you can rent. They also rent fins and stuff if you need that. There are steps going down to the shore; at low tide its a bit of a jump. But it's nice reefs. It's where all the boats bring you anyway.

There's a really old church next door that's interesting also (have a look after your snorkel) and down the road to the south are a lot of restaurants and a shopping center if you need supplies.

Peace, Greenie

As Greenie said, west coast for snorkeling. Renting a car is good for going to the west coast snorkeling spots, as well as seeing many sights on your own timetable w/o crowds. You will be driving on the left, so automatic transmission helps the transition. The area from Bridgetown south to the St.Lawrence Gap area is very built up. Other parts of the island are very scenic, with many sightseeing spots, such as Harrison's Cave, Flower Forest, Andromeda Gardens, wildlife preserve, Francia Plantation. See www.barbados.org
Absolutely wonderful island!

Yes, Barbados isone of the nicest islands in the Caribbean. The folliage, size of island, hotel options, dining, a few intersting places to see and most of all the natives make it a nice vacation spot.
While there is snorkeling do not go there is that is you # 1, 2 or 3 priority in your selection process.

Did you take my advice and start over by now going from Switzerland/Italy to Barbados or is this an extension of that trip? Mike

BarbMike, some of us get more than one vacation, lucky for me I have a terrific job. I'll be planning Austria next week, you had such a great idea.
