IMO it is not worth the money. It is beautiful - the buildings are lovely, the pool magnificent, and rooms 100% up to date (flat screen TVs!) but the beach is just as beautiful a little farther up the coast, the affordable (relatively!) rooms are not on the water, and why do you need a flat screen TV on vacation, anyway?
I think you get better value in many other places, but few have the British formality of SL, so if that is what you seek, it may be your best bet.

You will get more bang for the buck at Coral Reef Club, down the road. More casual than the snobby SL.

We have stayed at Coral Reef Club and absolutely love it. It's the best on the island -- especially their Luxury Cottage Suites.
In my opinion, Sandy Lane is much too far away to walk -- especially given the narrow, busy road and lack of sidewalks. I would find it stressful. Just get a taxi and you'll arrive relaxed.
