Sandal's Ochos Rios

My husband and I are going there in May and we are getting a little concerned. We keep hearing mixed reviews about the place. If anyone has been there please let us know how it was. I heard that they recently had renovations done here.

I Was not at Sandals OR but ar Sandals DR last year. The Ochie property is a smaller ,quieter resort with lush gardens. All Sandals are really nice, The DR one is really active and has a huge pool. You will be able to schuttle to Dunns River also. There were a few young couples that wanted a livelier atmoshere and they transfered to Dunns River. Many people loved the secluded feeling of OR. Depends what you like. Don't worry, Sandals is a great resort. check out www.jamaicans.com/board/wwwboard.html (DeWeb site On Jamaica) There are people posting on that board that have good info

My husband & I stayed at Sandal's DR for our honeymoon. We loved it. We took a shuttle to the OR property. The atmosphere & architecture between DR & OR is completely different. Both are beautiful and have lots to offer. You won't be bored. We're planning a vacation this year and are thinking of going to another Sandal's (probably MoBay). The Sandals all-inclusive is great. I like it because you know what you're getting. Make sure you do the Dunn's River Falls climb, it is really fun & the falls are fantastic. You'll have a great time. If you want any more info, please e-mail me.

Missy,

I just got back from Sandals Dunns River in March. The place was just spectacular. Every aspect of the resort exceded my expectations. My wife and I went over to Sandals Ocho Rios for dinner one night and were very disappointed. The service was terrible and we very disappointed with the pool, nite club, and other activities. As a matter of fact, we met other people from Sandals Ocho Rios who spent most of their days (and nights) at Sandals Dunns River. They were very disappointed with Ocho Rios. If you can change your trip and stay at Sandals Dunns River, I highly recommend it. There is a reason why Conde Naste Traveler, and travel and leisure magazines both rate Sandals Dunns River as one of the top resorts in the caribbean. In addition, Sandals itself rates Dunns River a 9 out of 10. It rates Ocho Rios a 7 1/2 out of 10. The greenery at Ocho Rios is very pretty, it partially makes up for the other shortcomings.

Missy,
Keep in mind that everyone's taste is different. We were married at Sandals in Ocho and we love it. Ocho is more relaxed ,cozy, romantic and great for just relaxing. Dunn's River , in my opinion only, was more wide open , less romantic and more for partying. All in all every Sandals is different , yet spectacular. We have been to Ocho 3 times , St Lucia 1 time and are going back to Ocho in Aug. Anyway , how was your trip?

We had a wonderful time at SOR. We thought the place was beautiful and the staff was very friendly. After one day at SDR we were glad to head back to our own hotel, along with everyone on the bus. Thanks for asking!
