Hi Karen,

I don't think you should have any problem with political unrest in Aruba. It's a very different island to Venezuela. I read a regional island newspaper and have not seen anything about Aruba to cause concern.

As an aside, this reminds me of long ago when we were going to Anguilla for a holiday just around the times of the troubles in Grenada and friends asked if we weren't worried. when we got to Anguilla things were just as peaceful as ever.

If you are concerned though, perhaps you should call or email the Aruba tourist board, they should be better able to answer your questions.

Good luck and I hope you have a wonderful peaceful holiday. Oh, don't forget that wherever you go you should exercise normal precautions regarding personal and property safety, like locking doors etc.

Just got back from Aruba and the only thing you see that clues you in to the problems in Venezuala are the Oil Tankers anchored off the continent (Ven not Aruba). As for beach safety, they just started a Beach Police Patrol that walk the beach to discourage breaking the law.
