Rent Car in St. Thomas or St. John
I haven't been on this site in a while and tried to search for information so forgive me if this has been asked! We are heading to St. John for 5 nights in April. Flying in/out of St. Thomas. There are 4 of us in total -- 2 adults and 2 teenagers. Should we rent a car in St. Thomas and bring it over on the ferry? Or, is it better to take a taxi from the St. Thomas airport to the ferry and then rent it when we arrive? I'm thinking it may be best to rent on St. John? Any thoughts? Thanks!

Rental prices are essentially the same. Add in the cost of the car ferry, and the hassle of driving to Red Hook, waiting in line for the car ferry hoping you get on the next one, etc.
id rent on St John. Be sure you book one soon as all the agencies can sell out. Pay close attention to the insurance paperwork requirements, including liability. My home auto covers me in the USVI. But not all companies do.

Thanks! I think it'll just be easier to rent on St. John as well for all the reasons you mentioned. Won't have to navigate the roads on our own in St. Thomas, deal with the car ferry, etc. Also appreciate the information on insurance/liability. Will need to check to see if we are covered by our home/auto policy.
