Myself and 4 single friends are planning a trip to Punta Cana in the Dominican Republic for the end of February 2001. We are considering staying at the Paradisus Punta Cana. Does anyone have any recomendations about this? Do you know if they have an exchange program with the other Melia resorts? One of the girls heard a that the Barcelo Bavaro Palace was nice? Which is better?

Hello, I can only tell you about the Barcelo Bavaro Palace. I stayed there in 1999. It is very beutifull. The grounds are lovely. The beach is great. You can swim, paddle boat and kayak. There are huge swaying palm trees. We were all inclusive which was awesome. I ate seafood here every day. I can't tell you much about the other resort you were talking about but this place was AWESOME. Another thing to consider the palace is among several other barcelo complexes. Down the beach that is. So you can also use their beach etc. (possibly eat at the other restuarants too, I can't remember for sure.) I think some of the other resorts were called the barcelo bavaro gardens and barcelo bavaro golf. But these are not five star and from what I seen the palace was the best. I hope this helps. One more thing remember there are alot of foreign travelers that don't speak english so just don't start talling to someone unless you know about five different languages. Oh one last thought the portions are small except for the buffets. So make sure and order extra, remember if your all inclusive you can order as much as you want. bye
