Any one been to Gran Vantata or Playa Naco. Am thinking of choosing one of these resorts for four adults in their 50s for a trip in March/99. Are the beaches nice and golf course and casinos accessible? Any info would be appreciated.

Hi! We're 4 adults in our 50s who have decided upon Flamenco Beach Resort in Playa Dorado. It's 5* & comes highly recommended. Also, friends went to Amsha Paradise Beach Resort & Casino last March & loved it. The food is great, lots of choice of restaurants apparently. I wouldn't stay in a standard room (too small according to another friend),so upgrade to a superior or a suite.
Golf & casinos are near all these 12 resorts in Playa Dorada.

We stayed in Playa Naco last year on the day after Christmas. It has 3 resturants on site and a beach bar. All inclusive in 1997 was only 20 US dollars a day. The beach was 200 yards from our condo. They had scuba lessons in the pool and free snorkeling excursions. The golf course was excellent and beautiful. They also had nightly entertainment. We had a great time.

My wife and I stayed at the Playa Naco resort in May 97. It is a decent hotel, nothing too extravagant with three restaurants and a beach grill. But could not recommend this location to anybody. 1)we were harrassed for two weeks by timeshare salesman, 2) the hotel employees were not too friendly, 3) we had to change rooms because of a flooding bathtub, 4) our new room was located right next two an area of construction so we would be awakened every morning at 7:00am, 5) it took 2 days to get 2 extra pillows 6) it was necessarry to reserve at the restaurants but they would never fill them to more than half because it is cheaper if people eat the buffet 7) golf is expensive and you must get a caddy who will get upset if you don't tip him enough 8) the casino at Jack Tarr resort requires you to purchase tokens, so you never know how much your spending 9) there really is not alot to do that is free.

I think that is enough for now. E-mail me if you need more info.
