Thanks, Steve. No offense taken. This is valuable information and sort of what I suspected for obvious reasons. I know PSV is a great place, but my gut instinct told me it was better to put it off until my husband and I can go alone. These are the years of our family adventures, and we'll probably keep looking. We're just always looking to get off the beaten path. No Beaches or Sandals for us, please. We like wild places, but with some creature comforts. There's a lot out there and we'll figure it out.

Peter Island at Xmas time is a place that would be perfect for your needs. It is big enough to allow more separation between couples and families. Knowing that you aren't planning the trip at that time, I've been told that summer is also a great time for kids; I just don't have personal experience of that. High season not at Xmas is not as good a time for families at Peter Island.

Also, Young Island was really good for us when we took our kids (they were a little older, but there were other children the age of yours). It is a really neat place as well. Sort of PSV-like, but not as remote.

Young Island has been recommended by others. Peter Island would be beautiful. We have stayed at The Bitter End on Virgin Gorda. Assumed Peter Island was too posh, but sometimes the summer deals do make a difference. I'll look into both.

All 3 are places where you can turn the kids loose, i.e., unless they are inclined to go into the bush, there's no place to go that you would not want them to go and no cars and no strangers.

Young Island was where Port Royal of Pirates of the Caribbean was filmed. When we were there, we put my kids in a cottage on one end of the resort and we were in a cottage at the oppsite end.

Kids at opposite end of resort? Thanks so much - I think we stayed next to them and after endless noise and rowdiness had to ask myself 'WHERE ARE THEIR PARENTS?????' Wanted to suggest an expansion of the leash-law to include unsupervised and unparented kids!!!! (Not really, but close)

I'm sure your kids were very well behaved but most are not when unsupervised on vacation!

They were well behaved, but I can appreciate your comment, and they weren't young. I believe it was about 4 or maybe 5 years ago when they were 13, 16, and 22.

Also, if you are referring to Young Island, I'm a bit surprised at the comment anyway. Even the furthest cottages are quite close.
