cmc,
Thank you very much.If someone took him to fight him, they have made a HUGE mistake because he would not hurt a fly.He was truly the best dog that we have ever had.
I am going to call Animal control right now and see if he has been found and thanks for the link that you posted.

Christie, they do not take the dogs to be fighters. They use them to train the dogs who are fighters. Sorry to be blunt, it is a horrible fact. I am glad you are contacting the shelters and lassiecomehome. We have our paws and fingers crossed you and Tony are reunited today.

I too love this post and that there are so many out there wanting to help the animals. But keep in mind that there are thousands of animals in the shelters in the states who are in need of homes too. Right now, in the US over 4 to 5 million and it may be closer to 6 to 7 million animals are euthanized every year in animal shelters. There are just not enough homes for all the animals that come into shelters.
And an interesting little statistic, of all the animals that are acquired yearly for pets nationwide, only 14% of those animals come from animal shelters.
So we have a problem here too. If you are looking to adopt a pet, please consider your local animal shelter or rescue group, you will be saving a life.
And more important get the message out there, spay/neuter, spay/neuter, spay/neuter.
Thanks,
KathyH

cmcfong-what a horrid image I had after reading your post. One never would have thought of such a thing. But yes, now more people are aware.
Christie-my thoughts are with you. Use every resource you can find to find your dog...

Christie, it occurred to me that you might want to canvas your old neighborhood that you just moved from. If for any reason your dog got lost, or picked up and then abandoned by someone else, it's a remote possibility that he would have found his way back to his old home. You've only been in your new home for just over a month, right?
Anyway, it's worth a shot. GOod luck.

Thanks everyone for the support.
Emily,
I had the same idea,we did move about a month ago.We moved only about 4 miles away from the old house.I am going to ride by there today.
I called the local animal shelter and they took my name and number and a description of Tony. They told me that they have had alot of reports of dogs lost/stolen in our area lately.
I also posted something at my vet.I am going to post it at other places today.
I will keep everyone posted.

Oh! I forgot to post that there's a shelter in Jamaica as well. I just found out about it today. It's called "the animal house". It's in St.Ann.

I do hope you find him alive and well.
