Port Antonio or Negril?

My husband and I took our first trip to Jamaica last summer and absolutely loved it. We rented a villa in the Runaway Bay area, but this summer wanted to stay somewhere different. I have heard that Port Antonio is beautiful, but checking the airlines fit seems difficult to get to. On the other hand Negril seems easier. Any advice would be appreciated.

Hi Diana, we rented a car and drove all over Jamaica and in my opinion Port Antonio wins hands down. I think that it's one of the most beautiful places that I've ever seen.
Why not rent a car and drive from Montego Bay, there's so many things to see. Have fun!!!!!!!!
I've never been to Negril but have been to Port Antonio and lovd it. It's right out of the movies! I have a friend that lives there and he flies into Kingston. I've heard so many bad stories about Kingston, though, that I would probably drive from Mo Bay. Enjoy!

Diana, I am heading to Port Antonio myself early december for 8 days. I've been to all places and Port Antonio is my favorite. I like it because of the landscape. Awesome!!

Your best bet is to fly into Kingston. When you book, your travel agent can arrange transportation for you.

Last year I was in Negril, Ocho Rios and Port Antonio. Negril is popular only for the long stretch of beach. If you appreciate lush vegetation and varied topography, then go to Port Antonio.
Diana,
Check with your travel agent and
inquire about Air Jamaica Vacations.
Through Air Jamaica, you can book
air/hotel packages. I do believe
that there are air connections you
can make with Air Jamaica if you
live in a city not normally serviced
by Air Jamaica. Anyway, their
packages does feature quite a few
attractive hotels in Port Antonio.
Once you arrive in Montego Bay,
Air Jamaica offers shuttles to Port
Antonio and to Negril. Hope this
helps.
Janice

We loved the lush beauty of Port Antonio. We also enjoyed the beutiful beaches and laid back attitude of drier Negril. Fly into Kingston and rent a car to drive to Port Antonio. Stay a few days, then drive to Negril, say a few nights and fly out of Montego Bay. Air Canada allows this.
