Would love your input with regard to choosing a hotel - four nites in May - with our 18 and 20 year old sons. Looking at Iberostar Bavaro or Punto Cana, or the Barcelo Bavaro Beach or the Barcelo Barvaro Palace. Out of these four, we are having difficulty choosing and not sure which might appeal more to our sons. Help!!!! Thanks for any input!!

Lorraine: Recently returned from the Paradisus Punta Cana which was great. For reviews on the resorts you mentioned, you must check out www.debbiesdominicantravel.com. People post their own reviews and I've noticed there are reviews on all the resorts you are considering. If there's any general Punta Cana advise or information I can provide, please let me know. I'd be happy to help wherever possible.

Lorraine: <BR> <BR>I have a bit of advice not related to your sons (meant in good humor): Choose the resort YOU would like the most. After all, you're footing the bill! When your sons are middle-aged and rich and can afford to take YOU on vacation, then they can choose whatever appeals to THEM! <BR> <BR>

Thank you both for responding to my query. Karen, I did in fact go to Debbie's web site and found it very interesting although I am still confused as there were so many different opinions. (thought I would try my 'friends' at Fodor's). <BR>This is for "Mom" who responded: while I am not rushing my sons into 'middle ageddom' I can't wait for them to be rich enough take US on vacation!!! In the meantime, I'm hoping to make it a really great trip for them!

Lorraine, <BR>We just returned yesterday from Barcelo Bavaro Beach Resort. All of the Barcelo Resorts are connected by pathways. If you stay at the Beach Resort you can use the facilities of the other 3 resorts, but not the Palace. If you drink at the Palace, you have to pay and if you eat at the Palace restaurants it costs $10 per person. restaurants. While we were there, we really checked the Palace to see if it was worth the extra money. The 3 restaurants in the Palace were a little better than the others and worth the $10. All of the food was just ok, but there was plenty of it. <BR>(For breakfast go to the Mexican restaurant which is behind the buffet reasturant. It was very quiet and very few people there.) <BR>The Palace beach was smaller, so it appeared crowded. The beaches are beautiful and connected so you can walk forever. It was very peaceful. <BR>The Beach Resort has all of the water sports your sons will want. They had water polo in the pool every day, for the guys, also. There were plenty of people their age. There is a disco that goes all night. <BR>We did not see a room at the Palace, but the rooms at the Beach Resort were standard. They definitely need some spiffing up, but they were very clean, as were the linens. <BR>We did not find a reason why we would pay more to stay at the Palace, so I would suggest the Beach Resort. <BR>Feel free to e-mail me if you want more specifics.
