Paying at Atlantis - Please Help
Going to Atlantis soon, and I am not sure how I should pay for everything. I was planning on using a credit card wherever possible for my own protection. But I was wondering if there are a lot of things I will need to have cash for (besides taxis, airport taxes/fees)?
Can I use a check/debit card? I am guessing there are ATMs at the casino. Can anyone confirm? Do you think I need to bother with travelers checks?
Also, aside from room, food, childcare, excursions such as dolphin encounter&snorkling, casino, what should I plan on spending money on at Atlantis?
I always get nervous before trips that I missed something. I appreciate any advise.

You can use your credit card for anything while at the Atlantis. For taxis and busses you will need cash. DON'T FORGET--you need $15 cash per person in order to leave Nassau. You pay this at the airport when you are leaving. You can charge any meals you have at Atlantis to your room. Most of the other local restaurants will accept your credit card. I always take a few travelers checks "just in case".

Only use your debit card at reputable venders - such as shops at the Atlantis and at cash machines. If you intend on using it like a Visa while shopping - this is very risky. Since the money is immediately withdrawn from the account - it is much more difficult to dispute charges. It can take months if not years to recoup your cash. The credit card rules are different for debit cards. Be careful.

Also - the cash machines at the Atlantis will give you U.S. dollars if I recall correctly. The other machines around Nassau and some on Paradise Island give you Bahamian Dollars which you may not want to return home with - so don't take too much out if it is giving you Bahamian money - you will lose money in the end with exchanging it back. Have a great trip.

Just returned from Atlantis a few hours ago. Bring your credit card(s) and use the Atlantis issued card for everything in the hotel including cold drinks on the beach! Then you do not have to worry about leaving your cards or cash around on the beach/ pools etc. Ensure that you have an enourmous amount of money for cab fares. They rip u off in Nassau. Rent a car if you possibly can and can drive on the left side.
I did not see any ATMs at the hotel but u should forgive me if I missed them due to the size of the hotel! In any event I dont see why u would want to use debit and get Bahamian dollars.
