Passport to Provo?
I will be traveling to Provo in June. My travel agent tells me that I don't need a passport, just a certified birth certificate and a photo id. I wanted to ask anyone who has been to Provo since Sept. 11, if they had any problems/delays without a passport? Thanks!

I was there 2 weeks ago. I have a passport, but others in our group did not, the ID was sufficient, but their were comments made by the immigration agent, that they prefer passports since 9/11, and that they may become necessary in the future.
If you have time, I'd get passports, noone knows what will transpire in the next few months. I'm sure you'll use them again.
I think with what has happening in the world today.. SOONER will come along more quickly.
This is the 3rd time I've heard comments about changing the rules about passports. Twice in the Bahamas and now in Provo
I'd rather go thru the motions of getting a passport at a leisurely pace, then have to fret about it in the future. Just my opinion.
Every serious traveler gets a passport since you need it to visit most countries in the world. Since a US passport is good for 10yrs, the cost works out to a few dollars a year, which is money well spent for the convenience. While a birth certificate is accepted in most of the Carib, you have to double check that the country you're visiting accepts a birth cert AND considers the copy you have to be "official". Once you get a passport you will wonder why you took so long to decide to get one.

No, you don't need a passport, but it makes everyone's lives a lot easier. We were stuck behind a family of 6 in an immigration line from hell. They all had birth certificates and ids. Great. Did they get them out before they got to the head of the line? Of course not.
