One Day In Aruba

My husband and I are taking a Christmas/New Year's cruise that stops 1 day in Aruba. We don't like going to beaches. And we are not into water sports. What are the "must sees" in Aruba? And can we do it on our own by taxi instead of booking a tour from the ship?

I guess you could shop---walkable to downtown with many shops.

If you like aquariums and gorgeous hotel properties, you could go to "Atlantis" on Paradise island have lunch, look around the grounds & shops and gamble a little. It really is a beautiful place.

WOW! I don't know where my mind was. "Atlantis" is in Nassau. I've been both to Aruba and Nassau many times. Sorry about the mix up.

Yes you can go shopping---walk to shops.

You could go to lunch at the Marriott or the Hyatt, both beautiful properties with nice casinos if you like to gamble.

The Atlantis is NOT in Aruba. It's located in Nassau, Bahamas.

I would suggest a jeep tour. Book on-line with ABC. http://www.abc-aruba.com/

They will take all over the Island to some scenic stops such as California Lighthouse, Wish Garden, Chapel of Alto Vista, Shark's Mouth, Bushiribana Gold Mill Ruins, Ostrich Farm, Natural Bridge, Arikok National Park, Indian Caves, San Nicolas and Swimming and snorkeling at the famous Natural Pool and Baby Beach.

If you like shopping downtown Aruba has a nice area. Eat lunch at Iguana Joes.

Besides going by jeep, are there any other tour companies?

Yes there are sightseeing tours by bus. Here's a few links to look at:
