Nice destination that is non-stop from DC?
Does anyone know where you can fly non-stop return from Washington, DC, preferably National (Reagan) airport? Just starting to plan a trip for the fall - want luxury, ocean side, beautiful accommodations, great dining and prefer a city/town close by vs. staying at a resort the whole time. I tried to search with the individual airlines but it is hard to do a search when you don't know where you are going!
Thanks very much!

Maybe Miami? It's two hours away from DC, and you'd be able to have both the beach and the town. There are several high end hotels. I just stayed at the Mandarin Oriental over the new year, and while the hotel is very nice, I would not recommend that you stay there becuase it is pretty far from everything (about $25 per cab ride to go to South Beach).

I don't believe there are any non-stop flights to the islands from DCA. If you are willing to travel from IAD or BWI, there are more choices. Off the top of my head, Puerto Rico (SJU) and Jamaica can be reached directly from BWI or IAD.
If you are willing to make a hop, you can fly DCA to Miami or Ft. Lauderdale, with a hop to many destinations in the Bahamas or Caribbean.
But you've either got to be willing to fly out of BWI or IAD and/or take more than one flight if you want to get to the islands.

Thanks for your replies. We like Miami, but usually make it to FL once a year so we are looking for something different. I suppose we'll have to suck it up and fly from IAD or BWI in order to get a direct flight - I really cannot stand connections. I'm going to post a new thread to get suggestions for a destination.
Thanks again!

IAD is your only shot at a direct flight. I think you were inquiring in another post and I recommended Aruba. I think that would fit the bill for you. Nice beaches, great restaurants, direct flights, etc.
