need help from caribbean gurus please!
Can someone please give me the best suggestion on an island to go to closest resembling Anguilla. Forget St. Barts, siblings just went there. I would go back to Anguilla but just went last year and wife wants somewhere new. I loved Anguilla because of the tiki hut, great beaches, laid back attitude of the island w/ no casinos and such.
Kinda looking at St. Kitts right now but don't know?
Any help would be greatly appreciated!

St. Kitts is a nice island but its darker sand beaches don't come anywhere close to the ones you saw on Anguilla. The island does offer lush rain forests and an extinct volcano neither of which is found on Anguilla.
I have to agree with blamona's suggestions for islands with great beaches. They are all similar is topography to Anguilla. Other islands with fantastic beaches are Barbuda and Anegada. These are VERY laid back islands so check them out if you truly want to "get away from it all".

Not as on-the-cusp as Anguilla (which
NYers now flock to instead of St.Barts),
Los Roques off the coast of Venezuela
might be of interest. Pousadas/inns,
deserted islet beaches daily and different by boatman, laid-back, no casinos like Margarita Island. You'd fly from Venezuela/La Ceiba to Gran Roque.

Agree on Harbor Island, pink sand beach is fantastic.
Also absolutely loved Smugglers Cove near Little Apple Bay Tortola....fantastic and private but only 10 minutes from the little town, great wide cove with calm water and great view with one little cabana bar..
Also liked Jost Van Dyke's beaches...

Check out Virgin Gorda. Very laid back and empty beaches. Some good hotels (Biras Creek and Little Dix). Beaches are a notch below those on Anguilla but still up there in my opinion. Turks has the white sand beaches found on Anguilla but is a bit more developed than Anguilla (all the hotels are on grace bay beach).
