Need advice on Jamaica

We are going to Jamaica for the first time in late January. We chose Jamaica because it has several good all-inclusive family resorts. We wish to spend a minimal amount of money on souvineers and outside items such as excursions. The only souvineers that I want to buy are some rum and blue mountain coffee for personal consumption. My wife and daughter will probably want to get their hair braided. I think also the departure tax is in addition to the cost of our package trip with Air Jamaica Vacations. With the above expenses in mind, how much money should we bring to Jamaica? It will be my wife and I traveling with our 28 month old daughter (without going on excursions from the resort). Thanks for any help you can give us.

Hi - Hairbraiding is usually $2 per braid or about $40-50 per head. A lot of people try to get the price lowered, but try to remember that this is usually these locals livelyhood. The departure tax is $27 per person, and they shouldn't charge for your 28 month old. Coffee is about $10 per bag and rum is $8-10 per liter. Have fun...what resort did you decide to spend your vacation at?

We decided to spend our vacation at SuperClubs Boscobel Beach Resort 10 miles east of Ocho Rios because we have heard good things about the SuperClub's <BR>properties. We also wanted a resort that had a good children's program. We have heard good things about their children's program. Thanks for your help.

I was in Jamaica a few years ago, and stayed at an all-inclusive called JAMAICA JAMAICA. It cost $1,100 for a week, which included everything, even transfers. I recommend it.

When purchasing alcohol, please do so at the airport on your home. They have duty free liquor there and it is packaged very nicely for you to carry-on to the plane. It is also cheaper.
