Jonathan, We went to Nassau last December and are planning a return this year in November. The weather was a little cool (mid-70's) and we went swimming, strolling, etc. I think that November may be a little better with temps around 80. You can check the climate on-line to give a better idea of temps and precipitation. The hotels range from average to very nice on Cable Beach. We stayed at the Nassau Beach and found it to be clean and comfortable. There are also hotels on nearby Paradise Island which are comparable and to the rather extravagant with Atlantis. Restaurants are expensive so we went on the breakfast plan and then ate where we wanted in the evening, so it wasn't bad at all. Have a good time.

First of all Nassau is not in the Caribbean, its in the Bahamas. I was in the Bahamas last Christmas week and the days are usually in the high 70s to mid 80s. The nights you could use a light cotton jacket. The ocean can surprise you. I found that I could swim, but the water was chilly and it took some getting used to. The beaches and hotels are very crowded with people from the north. Enjoy!!

Greetings, I saw your response to Jonathan, and wondered where you dined in the evenings. We are going in November as well and will follow your suggestion of the breakfast plan at Atlantis. Also were there any tours or such that should not be missed or any that should definitely be bypassed. Thanks in advance.

Message to Dan: The breakfast plan is certainly the way to go. What we did was eat a large breakfast about 9:00 AM and then not eat until dinner (maybe 7:30 PM)and of course, had just one meal to pay for. For snacks and such, take a bus to the market (Winn-Dixie) as it's much cheaper. We tried a few spots and had a good meal at Tony Roma's (about $65.00 for two) and at the Johnny Canoe (about $40.00) at the Nassau Beach hotel. The "Rock and Roll" was nothing special. I'd ask a couple of employees at the Atlantis where they would go and try that. Dinner at Atlantis would probably be big $$$. By the way, try the Kalik beer. local, not bad. ALL beer is expensive, though. Have a good time!

I saw your messages about nassau; we are going in October - first time. We are trying to decide if we should stay at Nassau (Marriot or Radisson) or if we should stay on Paradise Island (Radisson). Room rates are about the same - is one better than the other. We were also planning on taking the meal plan - considering the breakfast/dinner plan at the Raddison - Paradise Island. Is your suggestion to just take the breakfast - we were also concerned that we might want to eat someplace different for dinner. Thanks for the info.

Message to Penny: I'd take the breakfast plan 'cause how many ways can you have breakfast? Most places will give you a choice between menu selections or buffet style. I'd keep dinner out of the plan which gives you freedom of choice. I'm not sure of the differences between the Cable beach and Paradise Island hotels that you mentioned since I've only seen them from the outside. They appeared about equal, I think. It's probably safe to go either way. If it's the same price, but higher "star" rating, then chosse that one. Don't forget to check out the straw market, the Atlantis and go snorkel! Have fun!
