Nassau budget hotel / inn

I have to be in Nassau around 1/7/07 - 1/9/07. Looking for a budget (as cheap as possible) hotel / inn /motel that is safe and clean but doesn't have to offer any amenities. Location near downtown Nassau (Colonial Hilton area) will be convenient but doesn't have to be there as long as I can get to downtown for a couple of meetings by taxi. Appreciate any recommendations.

Anyone? Sounds like it's hard to find a good rate in Nassau... but if I go with Priceline, can I remain open to any hotels they recommend whih have 3 stars or more?
If there is nothing available for under $100, I suppose I'll have to pay more. I'm a little hesitant because I don't want Priceline to give me a hotel that's on some other island which would make it difficult to get to my early morning meeting in downtown Nassau.

Not much in the way of hotels that will be that inexpensive. The only idea I had was the Travel Inn which is across the street from the Cathedral and a block away from the BC, and you would be able to walk to your meeting. The hotel is budget with a pool and restaurant.

Have a great time.

Orange Hill Inn is around $100 for a single. It isn't that close to downtown but is safe, clean and across the street from the beach!

Check the website.

Thanks guys. Just got the Nassau Beach Hotel for $70 a night on Priceline.
The next question is whether I can make a quick trip to some nearby island that's nice... I hear Harbor Island is a good place. But due to my itinerary, I can only do a day trip. I can depart around 9:00 a.m. on the Monday and am willing to come back as late as necessary that night. Is that recommended or will that be too much to pull off in a single day.

The Nassau Beach is quite nice, great pool area and fun restaurant onsite. It's also attached to the Wyndam which is right next door with a casino.

If you are looking for a day trip you can fly to Eleuthera and take a cab/water taxi over to the island and walk around. The flight is around $100rt but the flight is VERY early am 6amish and the last flight back is around 4pm.

Another option would be just to head over to Paradise Island for the day or take a day trip with one of the local snorkle outfits to an off island cay (the booze cruise), the hotel can arrange that for you.

If you want more info on Harbour Island try the www.briland.com website. The Bahamas Air website is www.bahamasair.com and the ferry is www.bahamasferries.com

Hope this helps.
