I totally get what some of you say. When I went to Aruba I loved and thought about moving there the first and second time. Then after the third we loved it but purchased a timeshare and have not regretted it at all. But to live there? I really love the malls and shopping, and some huge department stores. I don't think Island living would be for me. I love to visit every year I could even do 2 weeks but I am usually ready to come home. SXM we stayed at Divi resorts in the St. Phillipsburg. SXM just did not do it for me in fact we would not return. But to each his own, I would explore other islands and heed the advice of some of the people on here. They are very wise and offer good advice. Good luck.

Thankx , I am seriously looking at Puerto Rico . Work and in class options are all there for me as well as job placement , visa and such via the Academy . As for SXM and your travels , yes to each his own , Aruba is a beautiful place as well , I wish you all the best !

Have you been to Puerto Rico before? If not, can you plan a trip there sometime soon? Stay for a month or two?
I am all for exploring future possibilities but the reality of living someplace foreign is very different from a vacation or a day-dream.
I say this with kindness... I looked seriously into teaching in the USVI when I was younger (could not make it work).
And now older looking into full- or part-time living in Mexico (but I've vacationed there 25+ times in the past few decades, so feel I do have a somewhat realistic picture of what it would be like to make a move).

Hi , yes you can live there for 6 mos , as a visitor, after that you need to apply for a residency . I still have more homework to do yet and the Academy is helping as well w direction so I feel quite confident . Lots of variables to deal with , tho w good planning and finances in place I am ready to give it a go !
As far as Mexico , I found a great place that I was considering , La Ventanas . A lady by the name of Kerry Baker has a great site on the town . She told me women , 50ish and single have moved there , affordable , beautiful and safe .. FYI

I found the website/blog. I'm just saying Ventanas (means "windows" in Spanish) is not a place... rather it's the name of the website/blog/company for ex-pat living in Mexico. It focuses on the city of Mazatlan.

OK color me confused.
When I looked at her blog/website it was offering relocation information for Mazatlan. This is the link I was reading:
http://www.ventanasmexico.com/

OK sure, but that's not Kerry Baker's blog or website & not what you posted about before. I don't really understand why you think I'd be interested in moving to La Ventana. I've been to La Paz, not my cup of tea.

I haven't tried her blog . I used Google .. La Ventana,Mexico . It should show you images to choose from as well as several pages to roam around on . I was able to write her as I found her on the "Travel" site in the Huffington Post . I am thinking it was either last Fri or Sat's issue ( best places to retire ). She responded back right away ! Keep up on her pages as she will be putting up a new site w financial info and such as a resource site for potential travellers to the town . I hope this helps ... Ava
