Must See Sites

My husband and I are heading to St. Lucia in two weeks. I wanted to see if anyone knows of any "must see" things, "must eat" at places, or "must do" activities.

Also, we're staying at the Jalousie Hilton but flying into UVF airport. Does anyone know if the Hilton provides transportation from the airport to the hotel?

Hi! Also stayed at Jalousie in April 2002. Great place! Jalousie has helicopter transport to/from the airport (only 7 min.) in addition to van transport (approx. 1 1/2 hr.). Very windy roads so if you are susceptible to car sickness, i'd go with the helicopter. We were driven from the airport, but I did take a tour in the helicoper....great experience if you never have been in one...not sure of the cost. "Must Eat" places are Dasheen at Ladera Resort just above Jalousie...we loved our dinner....must go for sunset...fabulous views. There was a nice restaurant (can't remember the name) in Soufrie right on the water....very good! Bang (next to Jalousie...they do a show on Wednesday nights...ask about that. Also, Jalousie will recommend restaurants and I'm sure you will get other reply's to your post. My favorite tour was the open air jeep tour to the rain forest where we hiked down into the rain forest to a waterfall, swam, and hiked back. Hike is approximately 3 miles I think. We were driven through lots of little villages, scenery was great, and learned alot from our driver/guide. You will find there is much to do and see....ask around....you won't be dissapointed. Have fun!

We took a tour for the day I would recommend. It was the highlight of our trip. jungletoursstlucia.com It is an open jeep, a lot of fun. Check out the web site, I don't think you would be dissapointed. Have fun. St. Lucia is a gorgeous tropical Island.

I hope you and your husband love St. Lucia as much as I did! Helicopter transfers from airport are great but pricey. If you only have money to take the transfer one direction, do it going back to the airport. That way you can use the time in the taxi to decompress a bit from your travels and get a good introduction to the island traveling through the rain forest and villages. Taking the chopper back to the airport after your vacation will enable you to stay at the Jalousie a bit longer rather than spend that time cooped up in a car.

I ditto the Botanical Gardens. Lush and glorious! Some of the most beautiful plants and hummingbirds that I've ever seen.

I also did the Drive-In volcano, and while I'm glad I did it, I easily could skip it. It was crowded and smelly and not picturesque, but admittedly very interesting from a geological point of view.

Definitely do The Bang on Wednesday night for the live show, and don't forget to make reservations. Dinner at Dasheen is also a must. Go for drinks before sunset and then stay for dinner. Great view. Another great sunset view is right at the top of the Jalousie near the spa--there's a hottub up there for great sunset viewing.

I'd also recommend dinner at Anse Chastenet one night just for a little variety.
