Multi-Family vacation to caribbean
Any good suggestions on all inclusive places in the caribbean that would be good for a multi-family vacation in May. Kids range from ages 6-15, but not wanting a totally kid oriented place in that we have seniors also. Looking for something affordable and also a place that has larger rooms for a family of 5 or more. An exciting kids and teen program would be great too. Any suggestions welcome.

Very few all-inclusives (except the very expensive ones) have true suites that will sleep more than 5. Your best bet is to book a 2-bedroom condo-type suite at a resort in Cancun or Riviera Maya, or to book multiple rooms in a regular all-inclusive. Price-wise, you'll probably come out ahead by booking more rooms at a mid-range AI resort in the Dominican Republic or Jamaica. There's a nice new Iberostar in Montego Bay that might work. But I don't know what is "affordable" to you. If it's $1,200 per adult including airfare, then you're talking about a very modest resort. If it's more like $1,500 to $1,700 then there are a lot of options.
I also like the Almond resorts on St. Lucia and Barbados. The Almond Morgan Bay (St. Lucia) does have a handful of larger suite-style rooms that might be good for 5, but I don't think they'd handle more because they have just a regular sofa in the living room (though plenty of room for a rollaway). If you find a special, Almond can be affordable and has good kids programs. Almond Beach Village in Barbados is a very nice, large AI on a great beach.

Thanks so much for the info. I have looked at the ibeostars and they look nice I guess. Have you stayed there? I'm also looking at the Dreams resorts and someone has suggested the Crown Paradise Club in cancun. Not sure if that is to kiddy oriented. The Melia Caribe was another option that we were considering. Any information or knowledge of these places or others would be great. Again, thanks for responding.

Two years ago we travelled with 3 families to the Mayan Riviera. We booked at the the Parisio Lindo and were upgraded to the Parisio Maya next door. There were 3 couples and 7 children ages 17,16,15,14,2x 12 and 10. The rooms were fantastic and since the teens were paying a higher price anyway we booked the extra rooms. Our family had 2 rooms that were adjoining, one with a king bed and the other with 2 doubles and each with a sitting area and the bathrooms were large and wonderful, separate tiled shower and tub and a double sink, great for the girls. Our building had its own pool since we were farthest from the beach. Hardly anyone else used it. We enjoyed it late in the day for relaxing and reading before getting ready for dinner. The restaurants were good and we could try any in the group of 4 hotels that were sister properties. I think they started with one then kept building newer adjacent properties. You could basically use any of the facilities but the restaurants were limited, since we were in the newest property we could eat anywhere. On site they had a beautiful pool and swim up bar, a wave pool that the kids loved and a lazy river that you could float around all day if you chose to. There was also pingpong, tennis, ceramic painting, beach volleyball, pooltables etc and lots of nice shops on the premises. There was also a free shuttle to Playa del carmen, about 15 min. away. The kids tried the parasailing. One of the guys did scuba diving and some of the kids tried a free lesson in the pool. The was an ampitheatre a couple of properties over that had decent shows and a dance place for the late crowd. Also the resort had activites like salsa lessons and Spanish lessons and they actually did them everyday. We had a lot of fun touring on bikes and just walking around the expansive properties. Last but not least the beach was great, nice sand and good waves for body surfing. Hope this is helpful. Bottom line I would return anytime!

WOW! Thanks so much for all of that information. Exactly the type envionment that we are looking for so I will definatly look into these resorts. Good idea about just having the connecting rooms, We recently just thought of that in that it will give us more options. Thanks again.

Iberostar Tucan/Quetzal, Barcelo Maya or Omni Cancun--which is best for family trip at Thanksgiving?
