Multi Family Vacation- Caribbean

I'm in the process of trying to plan a vacation Dec/Jan 2013/14 for my family (husband, 2 toddlers) and my best friend's family with 3 small kids. We are looking to rent a house/ villa/ condo. 3 bedrooms. I am looking at Grace Bay location in T&C, but not opposed to any other island. We are looking at good places for family friendly locations. A condo/ house rental close to beach & with pool availablity. Night life isn't a must, but restaurants and shopping in a close by would be great. If we didn't have to rent a car that would be awesome. I'm up for any suggestions anyone has! Thank you!!

First off, budget always helps! the more you can narrow down requirements, the better we can help you!

Second off, even if small children, you really will have to get at least 4 bedrooms. 3 bedrooms tend to have max persons 6-8 including small children. Some villas can provide cribs or pack and plays for extra child, many villas will charge extra for this. (some do provide at no additional cost)

It's not as easy as space contraints, so even babies count as persons. Having 9 persons in a space made for 6 (even if cribs, etc fit) causes a lot more maintenance for the villa owner, a lot more utilities, more linens (they'll need bath and beach towels, extra sheets, causes extra laundry, for example) Plus, small kids tend to sit on couches wet bathing suits, mark walls, etc.

Similar to airlines, you pay full price for premium weeks, can't just "fit in" small kids.

Some resort condos allow a limited amount of kids free. 5 is pushing it to fit in 1 bedroom anywhere.

The time frame you're going is the most expensive week of the year, and many places have minimum stays. Usually at least 7, some up to 14. It will be 3 times what it normally is in the off season. With villas, kids are counted as adults that week, as those weeks are "Black Friday" to villas and resorts (where they sell out no matter what they charge)

Last Christmas thru New Years in Caribbean had exceptional weather. What does that mean? Many villas are already booked for that season coming up already! Some are fighting over wanting places! So resorts might be your best bet.

As for Turks and Caicos, it's an excellent family friendly island. Probably one of the best in Caribbean for many reasons. Flights are super easy to get to. Beach has calm clear waters great for toddlers. While some areas require cars, it's a flat straight forward island to drive with short distances. There are numerous places at the hub so you can walk around easily to most places. Great choice with kids!

It is however, one of the more expensive islands.

After you've given us a budget, we can help narrow down for you.

You can also on places like VRBO.com search for 4 bedroom Caribbean, and even put in a price range, and it will give you a list of villas and condos available.

Or give us your budget, and we can try to help.
