Hi, Caneel Bay, St. John. Beautiful resort and snorkeling off their seven beaches. The rooms do not reflect the price paid, but it is our favorite resort, so far, in the Caribbean. They can rent a jeep and explore the whole island. Give us the time of year and what you mean by "deluxe". Good luck. Owa

without knowing your budget and what the couple enjoy doing this is almost impossible answer. nightlife/casino? snorkel/dive? shopping? culture? parasailing/jet skiing? lush/jungle or arid with stunning beaches? adults only ai or do they like to get out and explore?

Thanks for everyone's input so far...
I have beeb reading on this site about crime on St. John. Seems a bit scary!
The Sonerrset looks beautiful bu over $6,000 for a week. I want really nice but that seems a bit high. I will check our Caneel Bay.
any thoughts?

Not the Caribbean, but how about Bora Bora in French Polynesia. Has absolutely everything you are looking for, and is one of the most beautiful, most romantic spots in the entire world. Wonderful beaches, spectacular snorkeling in the lagoon surrounding the island, and lots to see on the land. We have travelled extensively in the Caribbean and South Pacific, and this was our favorite. We stayed in an over-the-water bungalow at the Beachcomber, and five years later we still talk about it.

momincv: First of all, I want to say I admire your courage in taking on this task. All of the suggestions sound great, but one poster made a great point in saying that it would be best if you outline your budget and maybe make a "must have" or wish list. I also just want to respond to the St. John crime issue. I was just there and the circumstances of the more recent incident are very particular. It was senseless and inexcusable, but even the victim is not advocating a sense of alarm about St. John. He just wants those idiots to be arrested. STJ is still a beautiful destination and IMHO as safe as anywhere in the Caribbean.

I second Cap Juluca or Cuisnart in Anguilla. And South Pacific would be wonderful too. The Paul Gauguin has wonderful, romantic cruises in Tahiti. Regent Seven Seas cruiseline features small ships with wonderful, inclusive service.
I planned my son & daughter-in-law's honeymoon too. They didn't want beach or cruise so they did a wonderful trip thru Switzerland.
Have fun and let us know what you decide.
