Margarita Isle Honeymoon Help

Hi,
I'm looking into MI for my honeymoon and would like some feedback on resorts.
Considering the Allegro LagunaMar or the Hesperia Playa El Agua. I don't think I'll bother with the Hilton since I hear the beach is terrible.
I'm basically looking for the place with the best pools, beach and food. How is the beach at the LagunaMar? Is it close or quite a walk? We'll be going in late August 2003, will the weather be fine and will the resort be overrun with kids? Any and all comments are welcomed.
thanks...

Jim: We go every year to Margarita and I know the island pretty well.
The Lagunamar is about 15-2o min drive from the main city (Porlamar) and have good facilities. The pools are ok and the beach is nice but not too big; it´s inside the premises but not near the hotel so a cart keeps going up and down to movilize the guests between the hotel and the beach ( walking it´s about 15 min).
The Hesperia is more distant from the city, about 30 min, but has a much nicer beach, larger and nice to walk and for people watching; also a nice pool.
The Hilton is in the city, has the best pool, casino, but the beach is no good.
We usually go to the Hilton and drive to the different and nice beaches the island has to offer. You could also hire a taxi to drive you arround.
About the weather, is hot and sunny in august, nice to be at the beach. It´s vacation time so you will find the island a little busy but not as much as december.
Any other question please ask!

Is this the same as Margarita Island, Venezuela?
If so, sorry no info. So scared that I didn't even get off the ship when we docked.

I've also heard that it is a pretty bad/dangerous place. Several years ago it was ok but due to the unrest in Venuzuela, it has gone downhill.
