ARozek: My CJ reservation was for Feb. I am sure the resort's bldgs and rooms will be fully restored by May - if not much sooner. However, the beach erosion is the main lingering problem. Even with great human assistance, it can take many months for a beach to be restored. Without a great beach, you might as well go to Florida and buy a car with the $ you save. Seriously, the restoration time all depends on the degree of erosion. Early reports that I have read suggest that it was extensive. As such, I am regrettably looking elsewhere.

Not much info on specifically either LaSamanna or Malliouhana ... and reports are very positive about the islands. But I am with you! We bailed with our February reservations already but unfortuantely an awful lot of the NE Caribb was clobbered. Lenny was felt all over the Caribb! After seeing some pix and hearing the reports on Cap, I think that a Spring reopening might be more realistic. Given Caribb time and speed at which things are done and that everything needs to be shipped in ... and I am sure Cap will NOT reopen unless it is 100% ... I feel that is optomistic. The beach ... that's another story! They had just dredged and replaced the beach ... that is not going to be fixed so quickly! Pimm's is "gone;" water was up to balconies at George's; Villas 11 and up are seriously undermined and conterlevered out over where the sand used to be! Am sure when it reopens it will be better than ever (but remember, the insurance co's will be heavily involved ... and hotels might find it in their best interests financially not to open but to fix it right!). Best of luck ...
