Hi,
If you haven't already, look into PUNTA CANA! It is known as one of the more beautiful, relaxing beaches in the Caribbean, but I don't think it would cost as much as a lot of the smaller islands. I am going there for a friend's wedding in October - the pictures look absolutely amazing, and the reviews sound great too. The only thing Punta Cana is somewhat lacking is a big selection of adventurous stuff, but it sounds like that is not your priority. Bsically all of the resorts are all-inclusive, so you can eat and drink with no effort or extra $$ involved.
Good luck!

I stayed at the Anse Chastanet in St. Lucia for 10 days and it cost us around $3000 total (although this was in November). It is extremely romantic (voted most romantic resort a couple years back) with only around 45 rooms. There are no kids and mostly honeymooners. Our package included all of the meals, a free scuba lesson and a free massage (spa on site). You never have to leave the resort - there's a bar on the beach, a privage beach with snorkeling, scuba diving and kayaking. The only draw back is that there is no pool and the trip to get there is a pain! Worth taking a look at their specials, it was one of my favorite vacations.

We stayed at Couples Negril for our honeymoon at the end of June 2002 for 10 days and had a beachfront suite. We had a great time...the resort was gorgeous and the food amazing (and I am extremely picky as to what I eat).
There isn't much to do at night although they do have events in the lounge and a live band in the restaurant where you can get up and dance. They also have day trips to Rick's Cafe which is fun and also a catamaran cruise which is a must.
Also the suites have a nice balcony with a hammock...very relaxing and romantic.
You can easily go there for under $3500 including airfare.
We highly recommend the resort especially if you want to relax.
If you need more info I'll be happy to help.
Don't give up...you will find the perfect place to spend your honeymoon.
