Looking for South Pacific Atmosphere in the Carribean

We are planning a trip next April to the Carribean. I have always wanted to go to the South Pacific, but this may be the closest I get for awhile. Can someone please help me out. We were looking at St. John because it appears quiet and beautiful, but close enough to St. Thomas for fun (we will have four kids 10-19...honestly good kids ). What about St. Lucia, Belize, Turks...Tobago, Trinidad, Cayman. Too many choices. I surely would appreciate the advice!!! Thanks! Lori

Lush islands are St. Lucia, Virgin Gorda and Nevis-St. Kitts. Small sports oriented resorts like Qualie Beach Resort in Nevis. Fodors online has good information under destination guides.

Lori:

I chose St. Lucia for my honeymoon last year because it looks more like the South Pacific and Tahiti than any other island in the Caribbean. We stayed at Ladera which sites 1000 ft up above teh Caribbean between the Piton Mountians peaks WOW! waht a view. You feel like you are in the South Pacific. I have a full trip report you can read and pictures of Ladera and St. Lucia at www.seashelltravel.com

Let me know if you have any questions after reading the reprt andlooking at the pictures. We can't wait to go back to St. Lucia and Ladera

Kay

Agree - it's definitely St. Lucia.
I've been to almost all of the "lush" islands, and it's the only one with a really exotic feel to it.
St. John is very nice, but it's not quite the same "lost in the jungle" feeling.
I would also recommend Ladera or Anse Chastanet to stay on St. Lucia.
Definitely not Caymans - too Americanized, or Tobago (unless you stay at the new Hilton) or Trinidad - too populated.
Belize might be another option, but safety can be a concern there.
