Looking for romance in Puerto Rico

Hello! My husband and I are traveling to Puerto Rico in March for a meeting. However, we have a few days before the meeting begins to travel and would love any input as to a great, romantic, getaway for the two of us. We are leaving our two young children with Grandma / Grandpa and would love to be somewhere quiet with a great beach, good pool and comfortable rooms. Budget is not too restrictive right now. Would welcome any ideas. Thanks so much!

If I were planning a romantic interlude in Puerto Rico with a not too restrictive budget, I would want to stay at the Horned Dorset Primavera. Great reviews for food and accommodations, some with their own private pool, pretty sure beach is more of the walking than swimming variety, however. The place is one of only about a half dozen Relais & Chateaux properties in the entire Caribbean. Wherever you decide, hope you find the perfect romantic getaway!

You might want to try Vieques - it is a short flight or ferry ride to the island. Check them out on www.enchanted-isle.com and www.vieques-island.com. There are mostly small inns and guesthouses but there is one resort, the Wyndham, on the Atlantic side of the island. We are staying at the Hacienda Tamarindo - we have heard good reviews on it. The only deal with Vieques is that almost all of the accomodations are not on the beach and if they are it is not a "swimmable" beach - but there are plenty of beautiful beaches - you just need a vehicle to get to them. We are renting a jeep for our stay but have read from others that cabs work just as well.

Thanks so much to both of you for your kind input. We have decided upon Vieques and are really looking forward to it! Take care, Courtney

Just curious, have you decided yet where you are staying on Vieques?
