*Looking for MUST-SEE &MUST Do's in Cancun

We are going to Cancun in April and would like to hear about things that are a MUST SEE and MUST DO. Please share your likes and dislikes. We are looking for a place with GREAT Snorkeling. We are staying at the Sun Palace

Thanks

I went to Cancun. Lots of places for diving, but certainly not the best place in the world, not even close. Too many tourists with nothing to do. Basically that is Cancun. It is a 30 mile strip of hotels. Makes Florida's beach strip look barren. Lots of drinking & eating establishments, flea markets with plenty of bargains and rip-offs. they have to make their money when they can. Shop around before you buy, everyone sells the same stuff. Good prices on silver, onyx marble chess sets, vanilla for cooking. Change your money in Mexico you will get a better rate than at home. All the things to see in Cancun are not in Cancun. Everything is bus rides away, usually in school bus vehicles not Greyhounds. They have a jungle tour. All you see is bush, we saw one bird. Too many boats go through on the same trip so all wild life stays away. But they take you skorkelling by a reef. When you get there there will be hundreds of other tourists and it is so crowded that you get bumped into the reef (dangerous). Nice place to just sit and relax. Lots of people from Germany as well as U.S. & Canada. Prepare to relax. There is some nude (topless) sunbathing allowed. Great food and cheap in the city core. Again beware of prices you can easily pay twice as much for the exact same item.

I disagree with ed's view of Cancun...there are lots of fun things to do...our favorites include: Catamaran Trip to Isle Mujeres, Day trip to Tulum/Xel-ha and shopping! Beware the "Jungle Tour". Visit "Iguana Wanna" and "Perico's" - and have fun!

If you are staying at at least a week I would take the day trip to Chitzen-Itza to see the ruins if you are into that sort of thing.
