You would be best posting this on the U.S board.

Littleton,NH -- Let's just say you're spending an overnight there en route. It's nowhereville, back of the boonies. Not even a good cup of java and cherry pie... Cross the border instead and stay at one of the small auberges near HATLEY or NORTH HATLEY in the Eastern Townships of Canada.

I realized you posted on the Caribbean board butI feel I need to defend this little town of Littleton. We passed trough it on the way to White Mountains. It is a charming town with people who are always polite. We never ate there but there is an excellent ice cream place. I think they are open only in the summer. We stop there just for ice cream. No, it is not in the boonies.
tivertonhouse, wouldn't you rather say it is more off the beaten track?

Besides on island, I also live in NH on the coast;while charming in fall, Littleton is indeed boonies in winter. The town used to be railway stop for the big old 19th cen.hotels but there's little left of even routine interest.
L'Auberge Hatley would be far more rewarding, on a stay in the Hanover, NH area, if only for a night with good food/drink/accomodations.
