Carman; My wife and I have been to New Providence Island(Nassau), and many outer islands. If Clarion South Beach is on New Providence or the outer islands of Exuma, Abaco, Eleuthera, San Salvador, let me know. I have mucho notes and places to see on each. Bob
Carman;
Quite a spread in age-range between your two kids, but still things to do they will enjoy. On Bay Street, across from the old British Colonial, "BC" as the Bahamians call her, is a restaurant, called the "Conch" something or other. Great dinners, sandwiches and Kalik beer for good prices. Next door is a Dunkin' Donut. Also, McDonald's is down the street. You may want to shop at the Winn Dixie grocery store for snacks and crackers, etc., to eat in your room. There are Burger Kings, amd the Oriental Express Restaurant on Bay street(Opposite straw market) for inexpensive meals. I would advise purchasing a good snorkel, mask and fin set to take with you. Along Nassau's shores are great beaches, and I ran into sting rays, moray eels, angel fish, yellow-tail snappers, small barracuda, horse-eyed jacks, etc. while snorkeling in less than 4 feet of water. Even your 3-year old can do it, with you by his/her side, of course. You may want to rent a car and tour the island with snorkeling equipment, and just jump in any beach that looks inviting. We did this and it was fun. You may want to go snorkeling with a local scuba diving operation, but your 3-year old wouldn't be able to paricipate. Baracuda Shoals and Cannonball Reef are great places. Try calling Bahama Divers when you get down there. They may even pick you up at the hotel. Don't forget to eat at the famous "Poop Deck" which is jsut past the Paradise Island Bridge, on Bay Street. A trip to Blue Lagoon would be nice, for a Dolphin Encounter. As soon as you hit your hotel, get a copy of the "Tourist News", which lists much to do. It is in every lobby. Watch out for independent taxi cab drivers, they can ask a high priced fare to go a short jaunt. Don't forget to eat conch(cracked, deep fried, etc.) and other ocean treats. You can even get a conch pizza!! Different. Have fun, Bob
Carman,
Don't know a great deal about South Ocean Beach, except one thing you should be aware of. It's way out there be it's lonesome self. You're going to need transportation back and forth to Nassau, although I would recommend Cable Beach, most likely by cab. I've heard reports its anywhere from a 20 to 45 minute ride. Never been there, but I do know it's out there a ways.

Danny
