KID WARNING!
Now that I have your attention....LOL... I have posted a few times and received no reply even when I posted to a specific destination. I have 2 kids I will be taking to the Caribbean with me next winter. I am looking KID SPECIFIC information from PARENTS. We are looking at Melia Caribe Tropical in the Dominican Republic, and in Jamaica, The Wyndham, FDR Pebbles, and Starfish Trelawny. Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance!

I stayed at Wyhdham in Jamaica a few years ago and there were both couples and families there. Seemed pretty kid friendly to me at the time.

I have researched Trelawny and the renovated version seems pretty nice, but I can't give you more info having not been myself.

Do a search on Jamaica or the property names in this forum and you will come up with info. I've seen relevant threads in the past few weeks.
Hi TheMom:
We have been traveling with 3 kids for a couple of years now and have done the Disney trip, a Carnival cruise to Cozumel, Grand Cayman and Jamaica this past Feb, Club Maeva in Manzanillo Mexico and a Club Med also in Mexico. Kids fell in love with Jamaica and we're planning a trip next year, to the Wyndham Rose Hall after checking out various Jamaica resorts. Email me if you have any questions if I can be of any help [email protected]

Thanks.....no problem! When I am on a trip without my kids (few and far between, lol) I do not care to be bothered by kids myself. However, this will be a family vacation and I want my kids to be just as relaxed and comfortable as me. I just find it works out best to avoid resorts where kids are in the minority. Nothing worse than a nasty glare from a person without kids in tow. Sandye...I have been searching for reviews all over the net from families who have recently stayed at the resorts I mentioned. I am striking out however. If I come across anything recent and worthwhile related to these resorts I will post here.

Wyndham in Jamiaca is definitely kid friendly. Their waterpark is amazing. My 5 yr old didnt want to leave. Unfortunately due to its location right off the ocean it is subject to high winds constantly which makes it unable to do any adult watersports onsite. Youll have to go into Montego Bay ($20) for this. My wife and I were content to stay in the waterpark the 5 days we were there. Food leaves something to be desired. Bring lots of single dollar bills for tips. I will absolutely go back to this place again.

Pluses

Excellent on-site waterpark for kids and adults
Close to airport (10 min) but far enough from bustle of Montego Bay
Good Service
Clean rooms
Excellent view

Minuses
Food (aside from breakfast)
Windy beach

Enjoy
How old are your "kids". If they are over 12 they be careful in Jamaica. I have been there a number of times. Though I do not have kids myself, I watched peddlars try to sell them weed on numerous occassions. They seem to draw the line at 12 or 13. Therefore, be very careful-this is probably the case throughtout the Caribbean...

I stayed at the Wyndham recently and enjoyed it, but I learned quickly that the first room they show you is NOT the one you want. A ten or twenty dollar tip will get you a much better room. In fact, I was given an upper, corner room with fabulous views.

Enjoy,

Gerry K
