Just got back from the best vacation in Turks and Caicos!
Hi all!
We got back Yesterday from our weeks vacation at the Allegro in Provo, T&C.
I am in the process of writing a detailed trip report, but would be happy to answer any questions you may have.
We had the time of our lives! Everything was perfect (except the food). The beach was the most beautiful I have ever seen. The color of the water I can not even describe. Clean, clear, warm and calm....It was the most gorgeous beach ever. I would like to know if there is a beach out there that beats Grace Bay in Provo! It was magnificent.
LIke I said, I am writing a trip report. When I am done, I will post it here but please let me know if you have any questions.
I can not wait to go back!
Denise

HI Melissa,
Like you are, I was so worried about the weather! I checked websites daily and they looked terrible!
We had great weather during our week. Yes, it was cloudy but the sun was so hot it burned through the clouds! It rained twice during the week for not even 5 minutes each time. We did have thunderstorms at night when I was sleeping but they never came during the day.
We came back with the best tans we ever got! The sun was so hot!!!! Bring a lot of sunscreen. Even with SPF 15 I got burnt (eventually faded to a great tan!).
YOu never know what the weather will be like, but July is early for hurricane season. Not impossible, but it is early.
I looked at the history for T&C in terms of stormy weather and it has been years since a hurricane went their way.
Also, statistically, July is one of the dryest months!
Go for it, Melissa!!!
I can't wait to go back!
Any other questions, feel free to e-mail me or post here!
Denise

To Denise,
Just a couple of questions..
Is there shade on the beach at any of the resorts, such as umbrellas, thatched huts etc? I understand that there are no trees for shade, is this true??

Also, are there any small AI's that you could recommemd on Provo? This will be our first trip to Provo. We usually go to Grand Cayman and stay in a condo, but thought we might like to try an AI. Thanks for your help!
Sandy

Not denise but--There are no small Ai's on Provo. There is Allegro, Beaches and a Club Med. Allegro used to be a Ramada and has recently ben sold. Beaches can accomodate over 1000 guests and is mostly families with kids. I wouldn't lock myself into an AI on Provo. Too many goos restaurants to try. Most of the accomodations are condo type resorts. If you E-mail me I can give you some recommendations.
Hi everyone, just got back myself from a one week stay in Turks for my honeymoon. It was absolutely amazing. We didn't stay on Provo, and am so glad I didn't. Went to a small resort on another island - only 27 rooms. Secluded endless beaches with the most friendly people. It was truly paradise. We went to a different island everyday, (included in all inclusive)and thought the best absolute beaches anywhere in the world where found here - particularly Fort George. Turquoise, warm clear water - shallow for miles. Mostly secluded. We only shared the beaches with another couple - so it was basically secluded the whole wntire trip. Snorkeling was great, everything was perfect. No tv's in the room (but was in a commen room) but that's not what you go for anyway.

So, if anyone has any questions or comments, I'd be more than happy to answer them.

Also, the food at this resort was great!!!!! Different food all the time, nothing was repeated - except appitezers and breakfast, but that was still awesome. For breakfast, fresh melon, pineapple, mango, cantelope, cereal, toast etc...very refreshing

I can't express in words the beauty and tranquility that we experienced - I would go back in a second!

To Jane,
I think that is about the rudest thing I have seen yet on this board. Do you really think that sharing your "Paradise" is going to ruin it for you?? Do you think that the girl that ask you that question about where you stayed is going to be there at the exact same time and you won't get a room? You said you shared the beach with one other couple, so I wouldn't worry about being crowded out!! Did you ever think that it might be nice to send some business to that resort to help them out?? Why bother telling us what a great place you were at, if you won't name it?? That's why people post on this board, to help other people out!

HI Sandy,
Sorry for the delay in answering your questions, but Howard answered correctly about the AI in Provo. While there are many wonderful restaurants in Provo, an AI is the least expensive way to go (if you are on a budget). I heard one couple say plan to spend $800 a week in food only! While we could have stayed in a fancier resort, we went for a great price. I will definitely stay at the Allegro again, because the staff are wonderful! We will upgrade our room for $30 a night, because the upgraded rooms have kitchens. That way, we can hit the grocery store to get things the Allegro doesn't have (iced coffee for example!).
I also wanted to add a comment to Jane. I agree with Sandy that your comment was rude. And RIDICULOUS for that matter. You are acting like the island you went to was all your own. FYI, we went to Fort George while we were in Provo so it isn't that big of a secret...You shouldn't have posted any comments here if you are not willing to be of any assistance to the people on this board!
Sandy, feel free to e-mail me anytime, okay?
Take care and I hope you do go to Turks and Caicos...any of the islands. It is so beautiful there. Ignore Jane's comment "I didn't go to Provo and I am so glad I didn't". What a crock. You will love Provo. True, it is busier than the other islands, but it is still very quiet and you will have plenty of beach to yourself!
Denise

To Denise,
Thanks for the reply. I'm doing a lot of research on accomodations and I'm leaning towards Coral Gardens. Howard e-mailed me some sites that I'm checking out. His review of Coral Gardens was what sold me on the place!! Did you happen to see this place while you were there? The only bad thing is that the condo unit I want is $375 a night and I really didn't want to pay that much. I will have a ton of questions, but I'm trying to narrow it down on where to stay first. Thanks so much and I will be back with lots of questions.

To Howard,
Thanks for all the info!! Still sorting through everything and I'll get back with you also!! Thanks

Sandy

Well Jane, I thik you have very good taste. TMC is on my short list of places to visit in the near future. I love how the day excursions were included in the ai pricing. Were drinks also included or at the end of your vacation did you have a tab? Thanks
