Hi Joan!

Yes I did do research as I can only afford one trip every 2 years. I asked many travel agents and they all said it's "THE" happening place to go right now. I want other people to know this in case they are getting the same feedback from travel agents.

If you are at all familiar with this board, and you must be or you wouldn't be posting here, you would know from all the previous posts that there is nothing to do in Provo.

Actually, there are a few places that your daughters could have gone in the evening and had some fun. Latitudes, Shark Bite and a few others. There is a casino at the Allegro. You must not have looked very hard.

Allie,
When a travel agent says someplace is the "happening place to go", what they are telling you is that it's popular. It's where alot of people are going. That doesn't mean that there is a Miami Beach type night life.
YOu should have asked,'why is it "happening"? What do people like about it? Like I said before, DO YOUR RESEARCH! If you can only afford one trip every two years, then you can ill afford to waste one going someplace where you are unhappy.
And as Anon said there is some nightlife, a few places to have a drink and hear some music. But you and your daughters would have had to seek it out instead of sitting around being miserable.

Hi everyone,
It's funny but we went to the Cayman Islands last year and that place had nothing to do. I mean nightlife was rent a movie a blockbuster (which is fine by me) and chill out. When I read about Provo I hear there is a casino, movie theatre...what more do people want. I even found out that Sharkbite has karaoke night. I just don't understand what kind of nightlife people want. I know u can't get no nightlife in the Caymans...I mean the restaurants barely stayed open past 9pm...so there is my opinion. Maybe provo is just not a conjested tequila popping place...thank the lord!
I'm going in 10 days for two weeks and can not wait...i'll probably goto the movies more there than i do at home in Canada!!!cheers everyone

Thank God there are still places that aren't crawling with tasteless resort style nightlife. I am a 20-something who gives thanks when I don't have to go to the mall on my vacation. Vacation should be about relaxing, not shopping, its just a sympton of our overindulgence and rampant consumerism that when we go on vacation we expect there to be someone ready to sell us something. How sad. Get a life and read a book.

While I agree that Allie should have done more research and so don't have much sympathy for her, I wanted to respond to GiveThanks who says that vacations "should be about relaxing, not shopping." Thank you so much for letting me know what vacations should be for. I always thought that a vacation should be anything that the person taking the vacation enjoys. Now I know that vacations are about relaxing and reading a book.

If you really looked into it there is someplace on Provo that has music every night. Your daughters would probably have liked Stardust and Ashes. You probably should have asked more questions on Provo forums and not relied on a Travel Agent who probably doesn't know much about Provo and probably never been there

Allie,
If you asked "many travel agents" then please on your next trip, do not take the advice of the same ones and then if you do seek out advice from new travel agents, before you make decision on where to take those valuable vacations that are so special to each and everyone of us, this forum and several others are so helpful and will give you the real story on most any place you want to go.

I am sorry your trip did not provide you "good nights", my husband and I just got back from Provo and I researched the trip thoroughly before and while I was there and found there is some place every single night with live music. To sit and enjoy each others company, have a nice glass of wine or cocktail and listen to music before, during and after a wonderful dinner was a "good night" and that is what you can find every night in Provo.
Hope your next trip with your daughters is more fun for them and all of you have a great time, finding something for all of your desired activities.

Allie,
While we love reorts, we find taking kids that age can be risky. See it too often- they can't appreciate tranquil, laid-back stuff. I HIGHLY suggest to all families facing this dilemma that they experience the Caribbean by way of cruise ship. That way, they have beaches, shopping, entertainment of their liking and variety. Works for us.

Joan.. same with me. I dont know what these people are talking about... there was nothing to do. We went to Sharkbite and it was dead! Everywhere we went looked like the staff was on their last legs. Like they were about to fall over. To be honest the only place we had fun at was Club Med. We went there for the disco and dinner. I'm 54 and I stayed there till 3am!!! I was so proud of myself!
