Just back from The Somerset

We just returned on Monday evening from Turks & Caicos and stayed at The Somerset. We stayed 11 nights in The Sterling Building, 2nd floor with a view straight down past the 2 pools ( beautiful)to the ocean. What a place...wow. With the cool welcome towel and rum punch upon arrival we knew it would be special...The suite was beautiful, Viking SS appliances, Granite, 1.5 baths with marble everywhere, fantastic master bedroom with king bed, decorated to die for...just perfect. Now my wife wants to move..ha ha.
The included breakfast is just enough with fresh fruit, etc. We rented a car thru Grace Bay Car Rentals..excellent experience, $39.00/day for a Corolla. Went to IGA to stock up on lunch stuff, wine and vodka and snacks. Many whites for about $20.00 and Absolute 1 Ltr $26.00.
Our 2 best dinners were O'Soleil at The Somerset , live music on friday night..excellent and book early to sit in the Zen garden, we also loved Coco Bistro, Caicos cafe, Bay Bistro( walk next door)Went to caribbean night at The Alexandra, only $25.00 and good selection ( buffet and music) Hemingways a the Sands ( Lobster pasta...yum) also walk there. We hit Da Conch Shack for thursday night music night but ate at Horse eyed Jacks next door 1st...All in all the Somerst was fantastic, clean, great staff at desk and pool. We can not wait to go back this summer!

When you go back this summer-will you take me with you?

Aren't the French couple singers amazing? I love them! I became a groupie.

Planning to go O'Soleil for dinner on a fri. in a few weeks.

So fill me in. Where is the music, in the restaurant or the bar? If we sit in the Zen Garden, as you suggest, will we be able to see them?
Thanks.

The music is set up in the garden, all of the doors to the bar are open, people sit in the garden or bar area and eat. If you eat in the Dining room or patio facing the Cottages you will not hear it. Book a table early and request the garden seating!

On Friday, if you go to O'Soleil between 6-7, you pay for 1 entree, get one free. Best Sea Bass on the island.

Or you can make a meal out of the tapas! 8-)

Wow! We just returned from The Somerset and also had a terrific time.
The resort is gorgeous and I walked into most of them on the beach and was very glad that I had selected The Somerset.
We also enjoyed O'Soleil and the live music on Friday night.
It was the most enjoyable vacation that we have had in years.
Will definately return to Turks and Caicos and to this lovely property.
The staff really went out of their way to make us feel at home. And the suites were amazing!

Love O'Soleil restaurant. The french canadian singers are great, but I'm a bit of a traditionalist and like more Caribbean style music when in the islands...

Did you find many children under 6-7 yrs. old though maybe it was not a school break period. With th efficiency arrangement should I assume in March or April the under 7 population might be pretty high?
We love kids, had our own, but on vacation like relative quite around pool and in dinning rooms at night.

In January we saw a couple of young ( under school age ) kids at The Somerset.
Last August we stayed at The Regent Palms and it was over run with kids - it was our Honeymoon. ( hated the resort as well)
