Just back from St. Thomas...Wedding at Renaissance

My husband and I just returned from St. Thomas for our wedding and honeymoon. We stayed at and got married at the Renaissance Grand Beach Resort. Any questions??? Also, we had our reception dinner at Paradiso on St. John....it was fabulous!! I'm glad to help!

Could you please put in a trip report? Did you do all the planning through the hotel, was the beach beautiful, did you like St Thomas, how long were you there - you know, the whole nine yards...

We're going to St. John this coming Wednesday -- how's the weather . . . as in: Is it buggy -- I had heard that it could be this time of year. Anything you'd like to tell us about what to expect would be appreciated!!!
Congratulations on your wedding -- what a wonderful way to do it. (21 years ago, we went to Maine and froze our butts off in the ocean up there!)

The weather during our week stay was pleasant overall. It was hot during the day but sometimes chilly at night. It was quite humid as well. It rained the 2 days after the wedding, but the rain comes in spurts so usually does not ruin the entire day. As for it being "buggy"...I only noticed an occasional mosquito. Nothing to be concerned about. The snorkeling was great!! It is rainy season down there now, but don't let that slow you down. There is plenty to do!!

I'm staying at the Colony Point Pleasant Resort the first week of July. This resort is next to Renaissance. Did you happen to see the property or hear anything about it? Fodors recommended this resort in their 1998 version, but it's not listed online, which concerns me. They allow beach privileges at the Renaissance because the beach is almost non-existent. Any suggestions would be helpful. Thanks!

I was on the Point Pleasant Resort property on my way to the Agave Terrace restaurant, which is at the Point Pleasant Resort. My husband and I commented on the "quaintness" and privacy that it seemed to offer. I think that it will be a great choice. It is wound throughout a hill so you don't get the commercial feel. Make sure you eat at the Agave Terrace. It is expensive, but well worth it. I think it was the best fish I've ever had!! Have fun.

Thanks for your reply, it makes me feel better that you've visited this resort, it sounds tranquil. Just can't find a picture of this place anywhere on the web, they don't have a website. I will have to visit the Agave Terrace restaurant while I'm there. Thanks for the tip!

We really enjoyed the Renaissance. The beach is nice and they bring in fresh sand often and clean it every morning. We had a 3 year old and a 1 year old on the trip with us and had no worries about their safety in the sand. Also, the Renaissance has a playground area and a part of the pool set aside for kids that is really shallow. I have not heard of the Blazing Villas. I would strongly recommend the Renaissance. It had plenty to offer and the best snorkeling in St. Thomas is right around the corner (3-5 minute walk) from the resort at Coki Beach.

Thanks for all the info. We're staying at the Renaissance next week (Mon - Sat).
Nothing against kids, but this is my wife's and my 20 anniversary and we're looking for a little more adult oriented vacation. Do they have an adult only pool among the 4 that they have?
