Just back from Sandals Dunn's River, any questions?
I got married at Sandals Dunn's River a week and a half ago. The wedding and the honeymoon was absolutely fabulous!!! I love Jamaica! And I love Sandals. I'm here if you have any questions.

Christine

Hi Christine;
I think we used to talk a bit on the ModernBride website??? Anyhow we were married SEpt. and spent our honeymoon in St. Lucia (Sandals Halcyon) we also had an amazing trip and highly recomment this Sandals Resort.
It seems I've been reading alot of negative stuff lately about Sandals resort being a 'rip-off' and just a drunken frat party atmosphere. This certainly was not our experience.

Can you share a bit of your experience. I've read that Sandals Dunns River is a fun filled time (was it party, party, party) and not much of a relaxed atmosphere. Is this true? We would like to return to another Sandals and are thinking Jamaica but don't know which one.
How was the food and what are the best restaurants? Did you take advantage of going to some of the other Sandals resorts for suppers? Did you feel it was 'worth the $$$' you payed?

Anyhow, congrats on your marraige.
Leslie.

Christine: I'm glad you love Dunn's River!!!! You emailed me last year when preparing for your wedding. Did you use the steps by the tennis courts for the ceramony? Did you see James Bond beach? Let me know how things went for you. I'm glad that you had a great time.
Marianna - Yes, I remember you. Thanks for all your input last year. We had the ceremony by the tennis courts. It was a quiet, private, beautiful spot. On our video as the minister was giving the service, you can hear birds singing. It was great. I have pictures on my web site. Go to www.netcom.com/~rocco1/home.html and click the "Wedding Pictures" link.

Leslie - I’ve been reading a lot of bad stuff about Sandals too. I think it’s worth the money though. It all depends on what you’re going down there for. Things like the horseback excursion wasn’t included. Although, we liked all that WAS included. If we were laying around and decided to go out on the catamaran, no problem, mon, we just walked up and went out...same with snorkeling or kayaking, etc. Some say Sandals isn’t the way to see the "real" Jamaica. Well, we were able to see the "real" Jamaica just fine with the excursions we did. I realized Sandals just isn’t for everybody. For us, it was great and worth it. I didn’t have to budget for food, drinks or watersports. I like that.

Sandals Dunn’s River (SDR) had a lot of activities. When we wanted to join in we could. When we didn’t, it was no problem to find a quiet spot and do nothing. Which we had no problems finding quiet spots on the beach, by the pool or just walking around. I think SDR accommodates both the kind of person who wants to be very active and the kind of person who just wants to relax.

The most fun we had was on the "Beach Party" night. We joined in the games and had a blast. Yeah, people were drinking, but it wasn’t like people were totally fall over drunk causing trouble (like at a frat party). It was all in good fun.

My favorite restaurant at SDR was The Terrace. It was big and open and you can see the ocean - breathtaking - with a cool breeze coming through. For breakfast and lunch it was buffet style, but not a typical buffet. For breakfast they made omelets right there for you. And lunch too was fabulous. The food itself at any of the restaurants was awesome. I just liked the atmosphere the best at The Terrace.

A few relatives that came down for the wedding stayed at Sandals Ocho Rios. It’s relatively easy to go between SOR and SDR. The food was just as good at SOR.

Feel free to ask any other questions (either on the board or email me directly).
-Christine
Christine,

My husband and our best friends are all turning 5o this fall...we all want to celebrate with a long week-end (thurs-Sun) at a sandals Club to celebrate the occasion. Will be flying from Atlanta, Ga. Do you think the club you went to would be a good choice for us ? We just want to sort of kick back and have some fun. Also we do not particularly care for a long ride from the airport to the resort. Any ideas? Thanksin advance.Catherine
