Jamaica 3 night trip

Hi all,
My wife and I are going to Jamaica this July 4th long weekend. We get in on Friday and returning Monday afternoon. We are getting into Montego Bay around 3pm and staying in a resort there for 3 nights.

I have been trying to put a trip itinerary but not sure of the best places. From what I have read we would like to visit Montego bay, Negril and Ocho Rios. Can you tell me a good itinerary and the best places to see? We like the beaches, some snorkelling and visiting some places. We just want to cover the 3 places.

Also we don't know how to travel to these places? What is the recommended mode of transport there?

Appreciate if you can give some last minute advice and best itinerary to make this a great trip!

Thanks!

getting to all 3 places may deem pretty difficult...they are all on different ends of the island. not sure of the drive to ocho rios, but the drive from montego bay to negril is about an hour. I love Negril. Visit Rick's Cafe out on the cliffs. In Ocho Rios, go to Dunn's River Waterfalls and take the tour, it's a blast, and it feels great in the heat!

Negril is about an 1 1/2 from MB. All you have planned in just 3 days will be trickie. I would narrow it down to the most important place you want to see first then go from there.it will be alot of waisted time traveling the whole island in just 3 days. My vote would be OR you can shop and do some activites.

Hi,
Thanks for your responses.
I understand that the 3 places will be very difficult, but we really want to get a feel of the 3.

Would the following work please:
- Friday (Tomorrow): Get in to Montego bay at 2:30pm. Goto hotel. See around hotel and probably goto Dr cave beach.
- Saturday: Goto Negril in the morning - See Seven mile beach. Return to Montego bay in the evening
- Sunday: Goto Ocho Rios and see Dunn Falls. Return in the evening
- Monday morning: See Montego bay and relax in hotel. Return afternoon.

Can you tell me what is the best mode of transport there also pls?

Thanks,
Sri

when me and my wife Bunli went we followed the same schedule too. It was good. If you are not comfortable with the driving there, its better to take taxi all over

Once you check into the hotel walk about block past the hotel and go the taxi stand ask for Renn, if he is not there, the other drivers will be happy to drive you, just ask for the price up front. Have fun, I went to all three places but we were there for 8 days.

Yes you can do your itinerary but you will spend about 4 hrs rt to Ochi and 3 to Negril. That is a lot of riding around for only staying 3 nights. If you want to stay that active - go for it, but otherwise I'd just go to one or the other and save one for next time. Also, gas is over $5 a gallon there now, be prepared to pay a reputable drive big bucks for all that moving around. ONLY use a driver that your hotel arranges for you and set the price up front. Have fun!
