JackTar Village - Hurricane Renos
I am planning on going to Jacktar in early 2000 and I am wondering how the renovations from last years hurricane have progressed. I would also like to hear from anyone who has experienced the golfing and the diving to get their opinions. One last thing , is it worth it to upgrade to a superior room for the view?

Hi Peter, I really envy you, you're going to one of my favourite places! I've been to Jack Tar St. Kitts three times, unfortunately I have not returned since the renovations, so I can't tell you about recent goings on there.
The one question I can address is the one regarding an upgrade. That really depends on you and how much time you will spend in your room. The first two times I was there, I had a lagoon view room on the second floor and I must say that I did like it very much (although at that time, they didn't charge extra for those rooms). On my third visit, I had requested my "usual" room, but it was being renovated, so I got a room on the first floor back from the pool, with its own little back yard. I must say that I liked that room as well.
If I had to pay extra to get my lagoon view room, I probably would not opt for it. The only thing that I would ask in room assignments is that I not have one of the rooms closest to and overlooking the pool, as they can be quite noisy during the day.
Have a wonderful time in St. Kitts and do feel free to e-mail me with any further questions you may have.

Sorry, I hit the send before I was ready. My husband golfs everyday and obviously enjoys it. Don't know anything about the diving. Two pools and two beaches within walking distance. Food is/was o.k. but you can get a little tired of buffets depending on the length of your stay. We have also had first and second floor rooms. Both were more than adequate. The one overlooking the pool was a little noisy between 5:00 and 6:00 but who cares at that time of day? Our first floor room viewed the lagoon/golf course and it was nice in its own way and was quiet. If you have specific questions, let me know. You may also want to check out the message board at where2stay.com. I've had good success getting St. Kitts info there. Enjoy your trip! Linda
