Island recommendations??

I'm living in Boston right now and since it's my first year and i have no family here, i'd like to go away for the holidays. My ideals are young, fun places to dance and drink(legal age??)and beaches that aren't too crowded. My budget is low, also.
Any ideas????

Bethany: I'm not sure how much you want to spend, so I'll just give an idea or two. I've been to several islands and actually lived in one: Jamaica. I won't suggest Jamaica, although it has a natural beauty, it has it's bad side, it isn't very safe. Aruba is great, but you need seven days and it'll run $800.00 and up for air & hotel (double occupancy), depending on the season. We like to do a short trip now and then, we go to Nassau for 4 days/3 nights. We stay at the Nassau Beach hotel which is comfortable and has a nice beach. Last December, we took an Apple Tour from Cleveland for $390 inc. breakfast (each). We were there at 12:30 in the afternoon, on the beach at 2:00. On our last day, our flight left at 5:30 PM and we stayed on the beach till nearly 3:00 as the hotel provides a courtesy room to shower and change. This year, they want $500.00 for that trip, but what I do is tell the travel agent to call me when she finds a special. They usually do. If she doesn't come up with one, I think we'll do Aruba in the spring. There are many other islands like St. Barth's, Turks and Caicos, etc. which are beautiful, but are more expensive. If you need info, e-mail me. Good luck. Lee

Try Cancun. It's the best value for your dollar. Hotels range from inexpensive to Superior and most are on the beach. You should be able to get a pkg. from Boston fairly reasonable. Food ranges from mexican to anything you want - and very reasonable. Easy to get around - buses are safe and run constantly for 3 pesos each trip (about 35 cents). lots of fun, sun and watersports. Good luck and have fun.

I went to Cancun alone last summer and have never had a better time in my entire life! I went to Club Med and while its not by any means the most plush resort, it certainly has the nightlife. I felt very safe and made friends right away. The trip to Tulum is amazing, as is the horseback riding on the beach! Feel free to e-mail me if you want any more info.

I think that Cancun would be perfect for you. Apple Vacations have pacakges from almost every city. There are so many things to see and do there that the time will fly. You can get by on very little money. One place you must try for breakfast or dinner is Captains Cove. They have buffet breakfasts and sea food buffet for dinner. Breakfast is $7.95 and includes anything you might want. I have been there alone and the people are very kind and gracious. Have a good time and a happy holiday.

Have not been to Turks and Caicos...yet but St. Bart's is one of the most beautiful and charming islands. shopping is excellent since all the designer stores are there for men and women and jewellery is the best priced and selections are vast. Restuarants are charming on this isle with the very French atomsphere. Beaches are beautiful. This is and intimate and fun place to vist.

Have fun
