Well, that's certainly a change of pace, but congratulations! Paris will be wonderful.
We're back to square one, I think...we had decided Isla Mujeres might be the perfect place, but high season prices probably won't allow that to work. We're hoping to spend under $2,000 for two (including air from NYC), for 5-7 days.

Hello tcreath! It is hard for me not to recommend St. John. Especially after living in St. Thomas as long as I did. If I were you I would visit St. John and stay in the ESTATE LINDHOLM. It is a beautiful place and you can get a beautiful, large room for less than $200 per night with an incredible view. The number for Estate Lindholm is 1- 340-775-6220. I would highly recommend that to you. St. John is a very safe and wonderful island and make sure you visit Hawksnest beach, Cinnamon Bay, and Trunk Bay while you are there. These beaches are beyond beautiful. I hope this helps.

Why , Dominica of course !!! It does have a few nice beaches , incredible hiking , incredible scenery ,rainforests , Unesco world heritage site for it's incredible biodiversity and landscape , volcanos , boiling lakes , Jurassic Park foilage , Carib indian settlement (last of it's kind ) , great diving sites, not in the mainstream tourist path so definitely not too touristy , small and unique lodging choices . Named as one of the few islands left in the Caribbean that remains basically as it was hundreds of years ago . Also known as the " Nature Island " .

hi, Faithie. you're right, it IS an old post, but some new posters were checking in on it for more suggestions. can't go wrong, either way.
i thought of you the other night while reading the new Caribbean Travel & Life magazine. It's got a lovely article on Dominica and I think the photos have finally convinced my husband to give it a go. Maybe next year...but I yearn to see DOminica for myself.
